The Department of Labour, Sikkim, on December 06, 2025, issued a notification regarding exemptions under the Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983.
The following has been stated: -
•The State Government has exempted shops and commercial establishments employing 20 or fewer workers from the provisions of the Act.
•The exemption is granted under Section 5 of the Act.
•Exempted establishments must submit details to the Labour Department in the prescribed Form I within three months of commencement.
•They must continue to comply with all other applicable statutory obligations.
